Catania Cruise Port welcomes the “Brilliance of the Seas”
It was a great day for Catania Cruise Port, which on 19 August celebrated the first visit to the port of Catania by the Brilliance of the Seas, a ship in the Royal Caribbean International fleet.
To mark the occasion, the traditional crest exchange ceremony took place on board, attended by the Terminal Manager of Catania Cruise Port, Alessia Calì, who welcomed the ship’s captain and crew.
There were 2,567 passengers on board. There were also 885 crew members. This illustrates the scale and impact that every stopover can have on the local area.
This maiden call represents an important new step in the growth of cruise traffic in Catania. Indeed, every new port call represents an opportunity that goes beyond the mere arrival of passengers: cruises help to create opportunities for the local economy and enable new groups of visitors to discover the region, its cultural treasures, landscapes and food and wine.
The arrival of the Brilliance of the Seas is therefore part of an increasingly close collaboration between cruise lines, the port and the local area, with the aim of transforming the growth in cruise traffic into tangible and lasting value for the destination.
Catania Cruise Port would like to thank Royal Caribbean International, the Captain and crew of the Brilliance of the Seas, and all the partners who contributed to the success of the event.
Welcome to Catania, Brilliance of the Seas!
